This play, roughly translated as “The Just Assassins,†is based on the true story of a group of Russian Socialists who assassinated the Grand Duke Sergei Romanov in 1905, and deals with the morality of murder and terrorism.
Camus (1913-1960) was a major French philosopher and writer. He is known as an existentialist, but he considered himself a nihilist. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1957.
