First edition of his third book, presentation copy, inscribed by him in green ink on the “by the same author†page, just opposite the title page: “with best wishes/Len Deighton/Nor[?] ’64.â€
This book (subtitled “Secret File Number 3â€) is the third book in the so-called “Unnamed Hero†series featuring the anonymous hero (called “Harry Palmer†and played by Michael Caine in the 1966 film) and concerns the defection of a Soviet scientist.
Len Deighton (born 1929) is a historian and cooking expert, as well as a famous spy novelist.
