Wilhelm Hauff (1802-1827), was a German poet and novelist. He is primarily known for his fairy tales, the first of which he wrote while he was tutoring the children of Baron Eugen von Hugel (he wrote it for them). His work is still known, especially "Der kleine Muck" ("The History of Little Mook"), "Kalif Storch" ("Caliph Stork") and "Die Geschichte von dem Gespensterschiff" ("The Tale of the Ghost Ship").
