Octavo. xxi, [1, blank], [1]-441, [1, blank], [1, signed limitation page], [3, blank] pp. Publisher's full taupe brocade, gilt lettered blue label to spine, top edge stained light brown. A fine copy, with original slipcase. Slipcase has very mild rubbing and sunning, but is still fine.

William Makepeace Thackeray (1811-1863) was one of the most successful English novelists of his day. Known primarily for his satirical works (most notably, Vanity Fair, 1848), he was second only to Charles Dickens in popularity and renown. An accomplished illustrator, he illustrated many of his books.
