Two volumes, both with publisher's quarter black linen over linen boards printed with a color lithograph by Mr. Ardizzone, spine lettered in gilt. Spine of Volume I very slightly worn. Both volumes still fine. With original, slightly worn, slipcase.

William Makepeace Thackeray (1811-1863) was one of the most successful English novelists of his day. Known primarily for his satirical works (most notably, Vanity Fair, 1848), he was second only to Charles Dickens in popularity and renown. An accomplished illustrator, he illustrated many of his books.
