Robert William Service (1874 – 1958) was a popular poet and writer. Although he was born and raised in England and Scotland, he moved to Canada at the age of 21. It was there that he began writing poetry about the people and places he saw, causing him to become known as both the "Canadian Kipling" and the "Bard of the Yukon".
