The Farthing Journal. A Pearl of Small Price, but a Great Literary Curiosity. London: Printed and Published by B. D. Cousins, [1841].
First book edition of this rare literary journal. Numbers 1 through 66 collected herein, the complete run of this publication.
Octavo. [iv], [1]-260 pp. With fifty-two vignettes engraved on wood throughout. Recent full grey cloth, printed paper spine label. A few text pages with minor thumbsoil, else fine.
This rare literary journal has short stories, poems and anecdotes, but its contents primarily consist of two serialized novels: The fortunes of Anna Temple and her brother Ned: A story of Whetstone Park, Lincoln's-inn-fields and Brulart, the Black Pirate; Or, Attar Gull. This journal is so rare that the British Library’s copy lacks the last two numbers.
