Complete in twenty-five sixteenmo volumes. Illustrated with two plates in each volume. Publisher's full limp blue cloth, spines tooled and lettered in gilt, top edges stained blue. Some minor wear, a few hinges cracked (yet still solid). Housed in the original long slipcase (inner hinges cracking, yet solid). Overall, near fine.

Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) was one of the most prolific and successful English-language novelist and poet of his day, and the first to have an international following. Not only is he known for his famous novels (Ivanhoe, Rob Roy, Waverley, etc.), but also for inventing the "historical novel."
