Touch of rubbing to slipcase, with top edge split, but still solid.

The story of a wealthy American widow who sends “ambassadors” to France to try and persuade her wayward son to return to America and take up the family business.

James (1843-1916) was one of the founders of the realism school in American fiction. His best-known works include Portrait of a Lady, The Tragic Muse and The Wings of the Dove.
