"Georg Lukács makes no bones about calling The Destruction of Reason a polemical book... It reconsiders the disturbing history of German irrationalism with the investigative tools of historical materialism. Displaying a rare breadth of learning and awareness, Lukács traces the atrocities of Fascism to seeds sown as far back as the older Schelling, Schopenhauer and Nietzsche."

Professor Dale Maurice Riepe (1918-2006), was a major American philosopher and scholar, and was the Professor of Philosophy at the University of Buffalo from 1963-1986, and taught at many other schools. His main area of expertise was Eastern Philosophy, and he traveled extensively. He wrote extensively, publishing over seventy articles and several books.
