This profusely illustrated work features a detailed account of the British invasion of Tibet, as well as a thorough account of the people and religion of Lhasa, the Tibetan capital.

Professor Dale Maurice Riepe (1918-2006), was a major American philosopher and scholar, and was the Professor of Philosophy at the University of Buffalo from 1963-1986, and taught at many other schools. His main area of expertise was Eastern Philosophy, and he traveled and wrote extensively, publishing several books and over seventy articles.
