Edward Holland Spicer (1906 — 1983), was a prominent American anthropologist. He was awarded membership in the American Philosophical Society and the National Academy of Sciences, as well as serving as president of the American Anthropological Association from 1973-1974. He is best known for his work Cycles of Conquest, which won acclaim from both anthropologists and historians and is today considered an ethnohistorical masterpiece.
