An excellent copy of this stunning, profusely illustrated tribute to legendary saxophonist and jazz musician Charlie Parker. This phenomenal work features a vast array of photographs, manuscripts, and ephemera provided and captioned by Chan Parker, Charlie's longtime partner.

Charlie "Yardbird" Parker (1920 – 1955), often known simply as "Bird", was a fixture in the jazz scene of the 1940's, and one of the most influential and talented musicians in jazz history. Parker not only played a significant role in the development of bebop, but was also one of the first to fuse jazz with other musical styles, from classical to Latin music. However, his phenomenal gift was frequently overshadowed by his drug and alcohol abuse - he routinely pawned his saxophone for drug money, and would show up to his own performances without an instrument to play. Parker's self-destructive lifestyle ultimately led to his death at the age of 34, leaving behind a musical landscape that would never be the same.
