THURSTON, Howard.

Fooling Millions. [Fooling the World].    New York: Howard Thurston, 1928.

First edition.

Quarto. 96 pp., including numerous black and white illustrations. Original stapled wraps printed in black, orange, and blue. Some rubbing and faint soiling to covers, but still a very good copy.

This fascinating pamphlet contains instructions for a number of magic tricks as well as a dream dictionary, fortune telling guides, and highlights from Thurston's storied career. Scarce - OCLC locates only five copies.

Howard Thurston (1869 - 1936) was one of the most successful magicians of the early twentieth century. Thurston traveled the world with what was at the time the biggest magic show ever created - during one tour he advertised that he traveled with thirteen tons of magic. Over the course of his career he performed before Presidents Theodore Roosevelt, William Taft, and Calvin Coolidge, as well as before heads of state across the world.
