Catherine Corman Talk & Booksigning
Date: 10/25/2009 .

On Sunday, October 25th at 3:00pm, photographer and filmmaker Catherine Corman returns to the City of Angels for a discussion and book-signing of Daylight Noir: Raymond Chandler’s Imagined City at Dragon Books, 2954 Beverly Glen Circle in Bel-Air. (Telephone (310) 441-8545)

Daylight Noir comprises photographs of all the ominous, forbidding locations in Los Angeles Chandler wrote about in his novels. These places – from Malibu Pier to the Hollywood Sign, from Union Station to the Beverly Hills Hotel, from MGM Studios to Musso and Frank’s Grill – reflect the literary geography of his imagination.

Corman’s images convey the palpable solitude of Los Angeles as Raymond Chandler painted it. Her photographs are printed in black and white at high contrast, to look like quick and dirty detective pictures from the noir era.
The book, released this October by Charta Art Books, includes a foreword by Macarthur Fellowship recipient Jonathan Lethem; also a winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award.
