Dragon Books

Cue the Vivaldi, grab your spectacles, and pour yourself a scotch.  It’s time to crack a spine at Dragon Books.  After occupying an online space for the past three years, the rare and antiquarian bookseller has brought its wares to Bel Air’s Glen Centre, along with handsome weathered leather club chairs, an 18th-century fireplace, Doric columns, a readers’ balcony, and of course, a traveling ladder.  The hand-carved oak bookcases are lined floor to ceiling with first editions, signed copies, uncommon volumes, and notable works that will charm the ascots off collectors. It’s not all display-case stuff, though: There are loads of titles you’ve been meaning to read and an art section for those who’d rather just look at the pretty pictures.

Specializing in philosophy, psychology, rare literature, and early American and British social critics, the store also takes requests.

Though you may want to rethink asking for that unauthorized bio you’ve been craving.

That’s for more of a Kelly Clarkson/Ray-Ban/PBR sort of day.

Dragon Books, 2954 Beverly Glen Circle, at Beverly Glen Boulevard and Mulholland Drive, Bel Air (310-441-8545 or dragonbooks.com).
